Галереи и приделы в архитектуре Фессалоник в VIII–XII веках. Основные вопросы изучения

От средневизантийского времени известны приделы, устроенные при главных ранневизантийских базиликах Фессалоник: собора Св. Дмитрия Солунского и церкви Богородицы Ахиропиитос. Два восточных придела уже в X в. получила церковь в монастыре Иоанна Предтечи, вероятно, её капеллы завершали на востоке северную и южную галереи, фланкировавшие наос. Предположительно придельный храм завершал и южную галерею церкви монастыря Св. Феодоры (?). Возможно, в средневизантийскую эпоху были возведены два известных придельных храма собора Св. Софии. Собранные на данный момент археологические данные не позволяют составить окончательное представление о традиции устройства галерей и приделов в средневизантийских Фессалониках: многие постройки пока не изучены с необходимой полнотой и имеют слишком широкие датировки. Однако уже известный материал свидетельствует о важности периферийных пространств для церковной архитектуры этого времени. Для дальнейшего изучения специфики устройства приделов и галерей в Фессалониках необходимо рассмотреть изученные постройки в контексте современной практики их возведения в Константинополе, а также в целом на Македонских землях. Особой важностью обладает вопрос о датировке, устройстве и функционировании помещений, пристроенных к основному объёму собора Св. Софии в Фессалониках.
