Незамеченное свидетельство о трагедии Софокла «Федра»

В свете данных, полученных в конце XX в. благодаря новейшим открытиям в области папирологии, появилась возможность предложить однозначную трактовку для изображения на крышке апулийской пиксиды IV в. до н. э. (ныне в собрании музея Альтамиры): перед нами кульминационная сцена из недошедшей до нас трагедии Софокла «Федра», момент, когда героиня клеветнически обвиняет своего пасынка в насилии. Античная традиция знала две версии этого сюжета: письмо от Федры Тесею или же устный оговор Ипполита перед отцом; сохранившаяся трагедия Еврипида «Ипполит» предлагает первый вариант (с запиской), трагедия Сенеки «Федра» — второй. В то же время очевидно, что Сенека должен был опираться на какой-то греческий источник — тот же, который иллюстрирует разбираемое изображение. Поскольку из папирусного фрагмента hypothesis к погибшему «HyppolytusKalyptomenos» Еврипида явствует, что в этой трагедии Федра так же писала мужу письмо, единственным кандидатом остается «Федра» Софокла.
