Abstract

This article researches the difference between the forms of the British non-figurative painting of the prewar and postwar periods. It considers the ideas of constructivism and existentialism that were dear to British abstract artists before and after the World War II. This article recounts the contemporary artistic activity of the town St. Ives — the famous center of the British avant-garde.
