Аннотация

На Северо-Западе и на Северо-Востоке Древней Руси во второй половине X–XIV в. были распространены разнообразные орнитоморфные подвески, изготовленные преимущественно из сплавов на основе меди. Согласно устоявшейся историографической традиции, большинство изделий рассматривалось как изображения водоплавающих птиц и ассоциировались финно-угорской мифологией. Наиболее ранние полые и пластинчатые подвески, возникшие во второй половине Х в. и просуществовавшие до XI – начала XII в., действительно изображали «уточек». Начиная с XI в. изменяется оформление голов — на них появляются хохолки и гребешки, клюв приобретает заостренную и загнутую форму, появляются также парные композиции. При рассмотрении подвесок не только в рамках типологии, но и в контексте средневекового искусства, выявляется ряд стилистических и иконографических параллелей. Аналогичным образом изображается птицы на древнерусских булавках, колтах, ряснах, браслетах-наручах, костяных, деревянных и металлических навершиях, произведениях восточной и западной торевтики. Существенным доводом в пользу соотнесения подвесок не с наследием язычества, а христианской традицией является сходство орнитоморфных образов с запечатленными в книжных миниатюрах и белокаменной резьбе владимиро-суздальских храмов.
