Следы Фидия в Финикии и на Кипре

В статье рассматривается письменное свидетельство о существовании хрисоэлефантинной статуи Зевса в Берите в Финикии. Данное исследование подразумевает, что этот текст надежен, и что упоминаемая статуя Зевса действительно существовала. Этот образ Зевса следует интерпретировать в контексте хорошо известного обычая финикийских городов и святилищ заказывать греческим скульпторам наиболее значимые произведения. В конфигурации этой статуи распознается тронный образ Зевса с рельефа алтаря (так называемой «трибуны») Эшмуна из святилища Эшмуна в Сидоне, в 41 км от Берита, датированного около середины IV в. до н.э. Также рассматриваются аналогичные сведения о другом Зевсе Фидия на Кипре.
