Фотографическая коллекция Гаврилы Рюмина: между Европой и Россией

В статье анализируются биография Гаврилы Рюмина (1841–1871) и коллекция его фотографий 1859 г. из фондов Научного архива Института истории материальной культуры РАН.Рюмин прожил краткую, но яркую жизнь. Он родился в Швейцарии, имел русские корни, получил хорошее образование, был разносторонней личностью и много путешествовал. Внес большой вкладв развитие Университета Лозанны. Г. Рюмин прекрасно фотографировал, состоял во Французском фотографическом обществе.Наиболее известны его фотографии, выполненные в 1859 г. во время путешествия великого князя Константина Николаевича на Восток. Снимки имеют высокую историческую и художественную ценность. На них запечатлены памятники древности Италии, Греции, Святой земли. Особенно подробно фотограф зафиксировал Помпеи. Фотографии Г. Рюмина, связанные с этим путешествием, представлены в мировых музейных собраниях, однако в архиве ИИМК РАН сохранился самый полный вариант этой серии, неизвестный до сих пор специалистам. Анализ состава и истории создания фото-коллекции показывает, что фотографическое наследие Г. Рюмина в полной мере можно причислить к художественным памятникам общемирового значения.
