Despite the fact that the phenomenon of postmodernism can be called one of the most popular and actively studied objects of modern research practice, there is still much to be done. This article is devoted to the typology of citation in the art of postmodernism: its philosophical and aesthetic bases, methods of art-historical research and artistic practice. The present paper does not exhaust the whole variety of issues related to the phenomenon of citation in the culture of the postwar period, but is the starting point for purely art-historical studies in this field.
