Отражение культа монарха в позднеантичном искусстве на примере фресок банного комплекса Кусайр Амра

Статья посвящена живописной декорации банного комплекса Кусайр Амра, отразившей культовые значения, связанные с фигурой монарха. Ключевым в прочтении фрескового цикла является расположение сцен тремя горизонтальными фризами, что, по нашему мнению, отражает мировой порядок с иерархией от мира земного со сценами придворной жизни в нижней зоне и до космических, абстрактных образов на сводах. Таким образом, происходит героизация представителя власти, несколько раз изображенного на фресках. Особый интерес представляет одно из изображений в западном нефе бани — колоссальная обнаженная фигура в момент церемониального публичного омовения. С опорой на литературные источники и косвенные археологические свидетельства, мы предлагаем рассматривать данную персону как портрет халифа аль-Валида II в образе Нового Диониса. Подобная параллель могла возникнуть под влиянием эллинистического царского и римского императорского культа, где монарх воспринимался как одна из ипостасей Диониса.
